About The Walk-In Clinic
In late 2004, Omega Health Services launched an After-Hours Outpatient Psychiatric Walk-In Clinic or WIC. First of its kind in the Treasure Valley, Omega’s WIC operates from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Mondays and Thursdays and requires no scheduled appointments. Our Walk-In Clinic is ideally suited for mental health patients whose clinical presentation does not meet emergency status, yet is too urgent to wait for a regularly schedule appointment. The Walk-In Clinic operates differently than our scheduled clinic. Below are some key points for the Walk-In Clinic:
- The Walk-In Clinic (WIC) is a ‘triage’ clinic; meaning most appointments are abbreviated and designed to stabilize the client. Because of this, we will typically have you come back to our office for a scheduled appointment shortly after your Walk-In Clinic visit.
- The WIC is first come first serve and there is often a wait to be seen.
- Just like our regular clinic, we take most insurances and payment is due at the time of service
- We do not prescribe any controlled substances in the WIC.
- We do not treat substance abuse in the WIC (i.e. suboxone treatment, methadone treatment, or alcohol detox).
WALK-IN CLINIC HOURS
Omega’s Walk-In Clinic hours vary throughout the year according to seasonal demands, most often operating Monday and Thursday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Our office closes for most national holidays, if the Walk-In clinic falls on a such a holiday, our clinic will be closed
WALK-IN CLINIC TREATMENTS
Patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis. We accept new and established patients with urgent needs in our walk-in clinic. Wait times are highly variable by the very nature of a ‘walk-in’ clinic, with some nights being much busier than others. We start accepting patients as early as 4:30pm and will accept patients up to 7:59pm. However, new patients are encouraged to arrive prior to 7:30 pm, due to the time needed to fill out the required paperwork. We accept most insurances during walk-in, as well as self-pay patients. QUALIFIED MEDICAL STAFF
Omega’s After Hours Psychiatric Walk-In Clinic is staffed intermittently by a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and/or Licensed Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners on a random schedule basis, and is most often staffed by at least two providers in an effort to keep wait times as short as possible.
